Join Me In My Living Room Dreams Redo

The Restoration hardware Source Book 2011 came in the mail today!
I sat myself right down with a cup of coffee and started dreaming.

There was so much loveliness that I decided to go window shopping
at Restoration Hardware and Anthropologie. It's been awhile since
I've done that so I figured today was a wonderful day for that!

I decided that I will just redo my living room (this is soo totally in
my dreams and not reality).

So here is what it looks like in my dreams:

Some lovely pink drawer pulls,

Notched Glass Knob Anthropologie

Gotta have some black and white with typography thrown in!

Aleksey Knob Anthropologie

These clear ones are just the right touch.

Violette Knob Anthropologie

For the smaller wall beside the door I will hang one of these,
(that way I can check to make sure my jacket is straight and
my hair is smooth before I head out the door.

White Narcissus Mirror Anthropologie

This sweet little puppy will sit beside my brown leather
 couch to keep me company,

Newsy Puli DogAnthropologie

Throw a few of these lovely frames on the bookshelves.
(I will be putting my own photos in them though)

Facsimile Picture Frame Anthropologie

This lovely locker will go on the other side of the door from the mirror
, I will trust it to take good care of my much loved guests belongings.

I have to pause to swoon here for a minute!
Ok, I'm better, now I'll just throw one of these fabulous bowls on the coffee table,

Cast Iron Gear Bowl Restoration Hardware

With a few of these to put in the bowl for some wonderful texture.

Lava Stone Spheres Restoration Hardware

And this map. This map belongs right above the loveseat on the wall.

Military Chalkboard US Map Restoration Hardware

Can't forget the bookcases! I'll need at least 3 of them so that
I can store all my books AND my decor, cuz you know I love both!
I will put these along the far wall behind and to the side of my
 angled couch.

Fluted Column Bookcase Restoration Hardware

And to complete it all, I will have these lovely drapes on my bay
window and my window on the north wall behind the recliner.
I also need to grab a few to hang on the side of each sidelite
on my front door.

Midnight Courtyard Curtain Anthropologie

I am sooo tired after redoing the whole living room.
Time for bed.
Gonna have sweet dreams about this lovely room!

Restoration Hardware Block Letter Knockoff

Below is a pic of the latest Restoration Hardware Block Letters
from the Baby & Kids Catalog
The typeface style of these letters are fabulous!
~Looove that catalog~

$90 plus shipping for those block letters above the bed!
Price for the wall decor below?
Take a guess....
No, it's not $50...
No, Try again it's not $18...

You guessed it - $6.20!!

I had the letters to spell PARIS just laying around and I have TONS of craft paint! :)

All I had to buy was a short and wide artists canvas from the local discount store.
(The canvas was originally 12.99 but it was on sale for 40% off and then I had an extra 20% off coupon they let me use- Let me tell you, I was smilin' when I walked out of there!)

So, above is the canvas,
and below is after brushing a coat of chocolate brown craft paint on.
(You're gonna want to do 2 coats of this, it doesn't have to be completely solid brown.)

The letter below are what I had laying around,
you aren't going to want to attach the letters until after you finish painting both the letters and the canvas!

Paint the letters in the same way as you paint the canvas.
Add a layer of black craft paint to both. Let some brown show through.

Add a little more brown on to the black.
You will alternate between the black and brown layers a few times. This adds depth to the project.
Easy Peasy cuz you can just add until it is to your liking.

Next, you glue the letters on, (I used hot glue but gorilla glue would hold better for long term because of the weight of the letters.) Then brush a light coat of a grayish tan over the face of the letters. (Keeping in mind that you are always letting some of the previous layers show through) Last of all, lightly brush some black on the edges as shown in the image below. This will fool people into thinking it is professional and gives it a worn look.

Depending on your preference, you may want to seal it with a clear coat, I did not because I like the dull faded look it has.

So, above was $6.20,
 below is $90 + shipping

I saved $83.80!!
Woo hoo!!
