Hello long lost friends! Yes, I am still around!
I just get so busy taking care of kids and house and doing little projects (that I forget to take pictures of!) that I haven't done any posts for awhile.
So I am quite happy to give a little tutorial style list on how to copy my latest little table that I have redone!
As you can see, I am a LITTLE heavy handed with the sander, but , hey, we all have our own tastes!
I'm really getting into the postcard-slash- mail trend right now,
so of course I had to add a little extra by painting a vintage style postcard on the top:)
List Style Tutorial on this table
1) Prime with Kilz primer
2)Brush on 2 coats of light blue paint
3)Dry brush some creamy white over the blue
4)Take a mouse style sander (I have the very inexpensive Black and Decker one that I have used for years and I LOOVE!) and sand till your heart's content.
5)Paint vintage postcard on top and let dry.(The fabulous thing about this heavy distressing is that you can make LOTS of mistakes while painting the postcard because it will be sanded so much that no one will see the mistakes)
6)Sand the postcard till you are happy with how it looks
7)Brush a VERY light coat of dark paste wax finish all over in random spots. (This makes it look worn)
8)Brush a coat of clear paste wax over the whole thing (The clear wax will be the final finish coat and also helps you to blend in the dark wax better)
9)Wait about an hour and then buff the whole piece with a cloth rag and you will have a beautiful satiny smooth finish.
